Root Canal
Often misunderstood and feared, root canal treatment is a simple procedure that can be done in one appointment to alleviate significant dental pain and infection. When a tooth has abscessed, root canal treatment is done in attempt to save the tooth and restore its function in order to avoid extraction. Root canal therapy can also be done in cases where teeth have broken or cracked and we wish to restore the tooth rather than pulling it.
Signs and symptoms that may indicate that you require a root canal include, but are not limited to, spontaneous pain, increased sensitivity to hot and cold, swelling, pain on chewing, and tenderness in the area or in the surrounding lymph nodes. Often times teeth requiring root canals do not give any obvious signs to the patient, but it is critical for the health of the surrounding teeth, bones, and soft tissues that these teeth be treated in a timely manner.
